François Dauteuil began his career as a Canadian filmmaker and television director in Montreal, Quebec. He gained recognition for his work in short and medium-length drama productions, earning several film festival awards, nominations and selections. 

François represented Canada, as a reporter, in the highly popular television series “La Course autour du monde” (The Race around the World) in 1981-1982. His notable works also include the short film “Pluie d’été” (Summer Rain), which won the Best Director Prize at the Yorkton Film Festival in 1985 and a nomination as Best Short Drama at the Genie Awards in 1986. He also authored and directed the television series “Ils mèneront le monde” (They Will Lead the World) on the occasion of the International Youth Year in 1985. Additionally, his medium-length film “Oui allô, Estelle?” earned him the Best Drama Over 30 Minutes Award at the Yorkton Film Festival in 1990, as well as a Best Drama under 60 minutes nomination, the same year, at the Banff Film Festival. 

François left Canada for France in the early 1990s. He now lives in the Paris metropolitan area. Over the years, he has worked as a translator and subtitler, collaborating with renowned entities such as United International Pictures, BAC Films, Studio Canal, Les Films du Sagittaire, Radio-Canada, Film Office Hachette Filipacchi, and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). He has also worked as a copywriter and storyteller, supporting individuals and small enterprises in their development. In 2022, he co-founded Vadviam, a French enterprise focusing on the dynamics between art and sustainability. He is currently pursuing a project as a songwriter and music artist.
